Bring On Good Things!

Leon FontaineDevoted

The good man from his inner good treasure flings forth good things, and the evil man out of his inner evil storehouse flings forth evil things.  Matthew 12:35 (AMPC) When things go wrong in our lives, sometimes it’s just because we live in an imperfect world. But we also have to realize the power of our beliefs…instead of always fighting the devil or asking God why he’s doing things to us. God wants to see you blessed. He’s not doing things to hurt you and he isn’t reluctant to help. And you’re not at the mercy of the devil. Jesus stripped him of all power, but he’ll use your power against you if you let him—the power of your beliefs. Sometimes we think we’ve heard …

Imagination Getting You In Trouble?

Leon FontaineDevoted

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient
for the day is its own trouble.  Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) Do you often get worried or anxious about the future? Jesus addressed this in our verse today. He knows you’re going to think about the details of everyday life such as what you’ll eat, drink and wear, but you don’t have to worry. He said, “For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness.” And then he cut to the chase: “and all these things will be given to you as well” (vv. 32–33, NIV). Now, what does it mean to seek first the kingdom? …

It’s About Believing

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.  1 John 5:4 (NIV)
Christians have the habit of making God’s Word religious. We relegate it to a bunch of rules and regulations, do’s and don’ts. The problem is that when we limit it in this way, we strip it of its awesome power to transform our lives. God’s Word is powerful. It contains truths that have the potential to change the course of your life. Faith in God’s Word is what brings God’s promises into your life. This faith gives you victory over emotional ups and downs, relationship troubles, financial problems, over sickness, disease and everything else that comes your way. Faith in his …

Grace Is Greater

But where sin increased and abounded, grace (God’s unmerited favour ) has surpassed it and increased the more and superabounded. Romans 5:20 (AMPC) Serving Jesus is the best way to live. Many people think that they need to resist temptation to suffer for Jesus. Although resisting temptation may be hard at first, it’s not a life sentence! God wants you to enjoy life, not live every moment craving things you can’t have! God designed us to experience pleasure, and we can learn to meet every desire we have in ways that are healthy, God-honouring and more fulfilling. Many destructive habits stem from legitimately healthy desires. For example, someone who loves to party and get drunk every weekend may just be trying to meet a desire …

Freedom And Confidence

Leon FontaineDevoted

In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.  Ephesians 3:12 (NIV) Many believers are hesitant to pray because they feel like God is judging them. When they do something wrong, they avoid talking to God about it. They feel like they should be hanging their heads in shame, not asking for help. But today’s verse says that we should come to God with freedom and confidence. Yesterday we talked about Hebrews 4:16, where it says that you can come boldly to the throne of grace and get mercy and help. If you’ve made a mistake, you can say, “Father, I need mercy because I’ve messed up,” and you can know that you’re forgiven. At the same time, you …
