WHAT YOU GAIN BECAUSE OF JESUS

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14 (NLT)  In today’s verse, we read a very interesting prayer that Paul prayed for the believers in Corinth. He prayed they would experience the grace of Jesus, the love of God and the fellowship of Holy Spirit. This is my prayer for you as well.  Today let’s focus on the first part of Paul’s prayer: the grace of Jesus.  Grace is the favour, ability and power you receive from God because of Jesus. When Jesus died, He earned so much for you: blessings, promises and the ability to have an intimate relationship with God for all eternity.  Let me …

IS HE YOUR FRIEND?

I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.” John 14:16 (NKJV)  After Jesus rose from the dead, He devastated His disciples by telling them that He would soon need to leave them again. But in the same breath, Jesus explained that He would be sending someone else to be with them.  Actually, He said in John 14:16 that the Father would give them “another Helper” in place of Him (NKJV), “another Friend” (MSG) or “another Comforter (Counsellor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby)” (AMPC).  In other words, Jesus told His disciples that God was sending them someone who would be in relationship with them just the same way that He was in relationship with …

BREATHE A SIGH OF RELIEF

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 (NLT)  Before Jesus was crucified, He told His disciples that He was leaving us a gift: “peace of mind and heart.” But do you sense that peace every day?  Just because you are given a gift doesn’t mean you enjoy it. Someone could transfer a million dollars into my bank account, but I won’t enjoy that money if I never withdraw it. The same is true with the peace that is in you because of Jesus. It’s there, but you need to know that you can draw from it in stressful times.  You also …

YOUR GREATEST DECISION

Oh death, where is your victory? …But thank God! He gives us this victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:55, 57 (NLT)  When Jesus died, the disciples thought they had lost Him. They were stunned when the three awe-inspiring years they had spent with Jesus came to such a tragic ending. But that wasn’t the end of the story.  Death can seem so final. When I was a child, a friend passed away suddenly, and for the first time I faced questions that seemed to have no answer. I was shocked, hurt and angry.  Something my parents taught me at this time was that life will always involve battles to fight and disappointments to bear—but they also taught me …

HE DIED FOR YOU

He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. 1 Peter 2:24 (MSG)  Good Friday is the day that we remember the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us. To honour Him, I simply want to tell you a bit about why I serve Him.  Jesus has impacted me more powerfully than words can describe. As a boy, I grew up learning that He was always with me. My parents would reassure me whenever I had a nightmare that I didn’t have to be afraid because I wasn’t alone. All the way back to my preschool years, I would ask Jesus to help me whenever …
