So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. 2 Thessalonians 1:11 (NLT) God is calling you to move toward the next season of your life—the life He’s planned for you, which is the best possible life you can have. On this path, it’s important to realize that He’s not necessarily calling you to a higher position. Although many make the mistake of thinking that, His calling doesn’t always lead to greater renown or fame. If you’re in the choir, being called to greater doesn’t mean you have to become one of the lead singers. …
IS HE YOUR LORD?
But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Luke 6:46 (NKJV) Jesus doesn’t just want to be your Saviour; He wants to be your Lord. If you’ve accepted Christ, He is your Saviour. There’s no question about it. When you die, you will be going to heaven. The real question is, “Is He your Lord?” That’s a question being tested in each of us every day, in every area of life. When you think of how you handle your money, is Jesus the Lord of your finances? Do you tithe? If you aren’t following His ways, is He your Lord in that area? Is Jesus Lord of your marriage? How do you respond to the gift that …
CALLING YOU IN DEEPER
Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation. 1 Peter 2:2 (AMPC) The Spirit of God is calling you. He speaks to every believer, and He’s always communicating. He is calling you to rise up and move on. As 1 Peter 2:2 teaches, He’s calling you to pursue and crave Him and His teaching the way newborn babies crave milk with all their being. And He’s calling you to act on the wisdom and direction you’re getting from Him and from His Word. If you’re in a comfortable place in life, you may be tempted to just stay where you are, but the Spirit of God …
CALLED TO A NEW SEASON
For many are called, but few are chosen. Matthew 22:14 (NKJV) When Jesus said that many are called but few are chosen, what did He mean? Some think it means that God predestined only some people to go to heaven. This explanation just doesn’t make sense because we can find several verses saying that God wants everyone to be saved (See 2 Peter 3:9, Matthew 18:14, 1 Timothy 2:4). The truth is He’s calling every person on the planet to a relationship with Himself, and everyone who chooses to follow Jesus becomes one of His chosen ones—members of His family. Others think today’s verse means that many are called to specific positions in the body of Christ, but few are actually chosen to be in …
GROW YOUR HEART
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. Romans 5:3–4 (NLT) If you were to hand-pick a team of leaders to take your salvation message to the world, would you enlist a bunch of teenagers, fishermen and tax collectors? No, you’d probably look for people who were trained in areas such as theology and leadership. But when Jesus picked His leaders, He picked the most unlikely bunch. Why? Because He doesn’t look at people the way we do. We look at people’s gifts and abilities, but He looks at our hearts. The truth is that God isn’t in awe …
