For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. 2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP) The fifth promise in our series is: “I have no fear but a spirit of power, a spirit of love and a sound, disciplined mind with healthy emotions.” When it comes to hearing God, one of the biggest issues we face in this area is fear. It’s hard to get His guidance when there’s fear in your life because fear and faith cannot coexist. Your mind and body will listen to your words, so begin to speak the Word …
GOD’S PROMISE OF GUIDANCE
The guard who is posted to protect the sheep opens the gate for the shepherd, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. John 10:3 (VOICE) Moms are faced with dozens of decisions every day. That makes this fourth prayer in our series so powerful. Every day, you can say, “I receive God’s personal guidance and He leads me to good things.” Some people believe God will lead them to bad things to help them learn and grow. But God is not such an ineffective teacher that He needs to resort to tragedies or horrible circumstances to make you learn. Life has enough challenges of its own, and you can learn just as many lessons as you walk …
GOD’S PROMISE OF PEACE
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NKJV) As we continue this series of powerful prayers for mothers, my hope is that you will start to declare these promises over yourself daily. And even if you aren’t a parent, these prayers are for any believer. The third declaration to speak over yourself every day is: “Peace and joy are powerful forces in my life.” Few people are truly living in a state of peace and joy. Yet these two gifts are yours for the taking. Your peace doesn’t come from everything around you being peaceful. Your joy isn’t dependant on all your problems being …
GOD’S PROMISE OF YOUTH
Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the [soaring] eagle. Psalm 103:5 (AMP) The second promise to declare over yourself daily is: “My youth and energy are renewed by God’s presence.” Many moms struggle with having enough energy. Between looking after their kids, marriage and, for many, a career as well, they are exhausted. But today’s verse paints a picture of renewal. It compares us to eagles, who regularly go through a moulting process of replacing their old feathers with new ones. Second Corinthians 4:16 also encourages us not to lose heart, because our inner self is being renewed day by day. Some of my peers have already decided they’re old and tired. They expect to be sick, stiff and subject …
YOUR POTENTIAL FOR GREATNESS
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we could ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20–21 (NASB) Your past does not determine your future. You may have suffered setbacks, tragedies and failures in life, but our God is not a God of the past. He’s the God of your potential—the God of your future. Your belief in what He says about you is what determines how far you go. You have been created for great things. Even if you have suffered failure, God has higher plans for you. Don’t simply accept the state …
