Here it is in a nutshell: Just as one person did it wrong and got us in all this trouble with sin and death, another person did it right and got us out of it. But more than just getting us out of trouble, he got us into life! Romans 5:18–19 (MSG) Understanding grace powers your faith because you realize you have everything you need within you to live the awesome life He has promised you. However, there’s something else that you need to understand to develop unshakable faith. It’s called righteousness, which is your right standing with God. You see, whenever you try to believe you can have what God says you can have—whether it’s health, prosperity, guidance or peace—your biggest enemy will be …
Does It Pass All The Tests?
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9 (NKJV) If we want to experience the peace and presence of God, we need to follow Jesus’ example. When the devil comes against us with thoughts to try and steer us off course into ruin, Paul instructs believers in Philippians 4:8 to put those thoughts to the test. If they don’t pass the test of being true as well as noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy, we are not to focus on them. Let’s say someone’s wronged you, and you’re convinced and have proven it’s true. Does that mean you’re allowed to focus on it? …
Is It True?
And now dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 (NLT) Do you question your thoughts? Satan is constantly at work to try to kill, steal and destroy. How does he do this? By attacking our minds with lies to try to get us focused on something untrue. If we don’t ever question our thoughts, we’ll believe there’s always truth to them. Oftentimes we get even farther off track when we take an unsure thought and expect to gain clarity by focusing on it, because the more we focus on something, the more we believe it! Instead, …
What Does Submit Mean?
So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. James 4:7 (AMP) What does it mean to submit to God? And how does that help us resist the devil? Today’s verse is an interesting one. Notice it says to submit to God first, and resisting the devil is second. One definition of submit is to accept or yield to a superior force or authority. We submit to God first by reading His Word and renewing our minds to who we are in Him and accepting what He says about us. In doing that first, it resists and quashes the enemy’s chances at influencing our mind with ridiculous thoughts and messing with us! Planting God’s …
Imagine The Impact!
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? Romans 10:13-14 (NLT) Politics, money, the media and Hollywood are all powerful players in shaping the world we live in. For example, we can’t deny that Hollywood culture, morals and beliefs influence the world. Now imagine the world-wide impact if we as believers rose up as never before to become a more powerful influence for the Kingdom, using those same tools. I often get asked why my church places such value on television. As believers, we are called to reach nations in every …
