It’s Your Words

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT) According to the Word of God, your words determine the direction of your life. It’s not your momma, your papa, your doctor, or your teachers. These may have had an influence over your past, but the words you speak now have great influence over your future. When you speak, your words affect your mind, emotions, body, beliefs and the spiritual realm. Your words are powerful. What do you want more of in your life? Speak those promises over yourself. And what about the people around you? You …

What’s Following You?

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. Psalm 23:6 (NKJV) When I was young, we used to sing an old hymn with a chorus that went something like this: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days, all the days of my life.” It’s funny, but I actually thought that it was talking about three women who were following me: Shirley, Goodness and Mercy! The thing is, that misunderstanding still paints an accurate picture of what the psalmist was saying. God’s goodness and mercy are following me everywhere I go. And as a believer, they’re following you, too! If you’re going for a job interview or …

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth. Philippians 2:10 (NKJV) Do you ever wake up grumpy? The first thought in your mind might be, “Ugh, another stinkin’ day.” If so no wonder you want to stay in bed! Don’t accept that thought! Instead, say, “This is the day the Lord has made. I’m going to rejoice and be glad in it!” (See Psalm 118:24.) You may be fighting an illness or disease that is making you tired at the moment. If doctors have diagnosed you with something, don’t let that diagnosis hang over you. Instead, use it to research what you can do to get healthy. You …

For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom. Colossians 1:9 (AMPC) Over the past few days, we’ve been talking about the fight that takes place in Christianity. It’s not about fighting among each other. And it’s not about fighting demons. Our fight is to stay in faith, to keep our focus, to stay the course. To win the fight to stay in faith, you need to keep claiming God’s promises over your life. One great scripture I love to pray over my family and friends is Colossians 1:9–10. I’d take …

God Is Win-Win

And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory. Colossians 1:26–27 (NLT) Want to bring more glory to God? Today’s verse has the key: Christ in you. Glory is a word that’s often misunderstood. To keep it simple, think of it this way. If something makes God look good, it brings Him glory. For example, when you experience God’s promises and blessings, you show the world how awesome He is. When you give Him the credit, it brings Him glory. So, experiencing God’s promises is one way to bring Him glory. Isn’t that great? God works in a win-win kind of way! If you want to bring glory to God, then understand the mystery. The mystery is …
