I will pray in the spirit, and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand. 1 Corinthians 14:15 (NLT) Praying in the spirit (also called praying in tongues) is the next type of prayer we’ll talk about in our series about prayer. When you pray in the spirit, you’re not praying in a language that you understand, but in one that God understands. The Message version of 1 Corinthians 14:2 puts it this way: “If you praise him in the private language of tongues, God understands you but no one else does, for you are sharing intimacies just between you and him.” Many believers find praying in the spirit a …
The Prayer Of Agreement In Marriage
For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. Matthew 18:20 (NLT) Over the years, my wife Sally and I have often prayed the prayer of agreement together. Often during the day, I’ll give Sally a call or she’ll call me to quickly agree on what we believe God is going to do in an area of our lives. Whatever the need—whether a health issue, an important meeting or a financial decision—we talk about it briefly and then claim His promises together. As I mentioned yesterday, the prayer of agreement is powerful. Unfortunately, it is severely undervalued by married couples. A marriage relationship is unique and powerful, and when spouses come together to pray in agreement, it’s truly amazing …
The Prayer Of Agreement
Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. Matthew 18:19 (NKJV) Over the past few days, we’ve been discussing eight different types of prayer. Today we will cover the prayer of agreement. Jesus summed up this prayer perfectly in our verse today: When two or more believers join together in faith for something, it’s going to happen (provided, of course, that what they pray for lines up with God’s Word). When believers come together to pray and believe, it’s powerful. Do you take advantage of this prayer? Many churches and ministries have prayer teams available for this very purpose—to agree with you in prayer. …
Prayer And Worship Go Hand In Hand
Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. Philippians 4:6–7 (NLT) We’ve been on a series about the eight different types of prayer over the past few days. As I mentioned before, these don’t work in isolation. In fact, the prayer of worship is one type of prayer you need to use in every situation! For example, let’s say you’re struggling with a health issue. After praying the prayer of faith by claiming that healing in your life, don’t stop there. Worship Him too! Praise God for healing you even if you don’t have any evidence of that healing yet. Every day, continue to be thankful that His …
When To Praise Him The Loudest
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Psalm 22:3 (KJV) There is such freedom in deciding to praise and worship God no matter what is going on in your life. According to our verse today, God inhabits our praises, but this doesn’t mean that God only shows up when we praise Him. If you’ve given your life to Christ, He’s always with you, but you may not always be aware of Him. As you praise and worship God, you become more aware of His presence. Something amazing happens when you turn your focus to God’s goodness. You “find fullness of joy” in God’s presence (Psalm 16:11). You can tap in to the joy God has for you, no matter what …
