God said, Let us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth…. Genesis 1:26 (AMPC) Many believers get hung up on a false sense of humility. Growing up, I remember hearing teaching about how a church shouldn’t grow beyond a couple of hundred people lest the church become too arrogant, or the pastor become too prideful. It was all centred around staying humble. Now, humility is a great quality to have. But that word has been misunderstood by many people to mean staying small, average or insignificant. If my wife and I had followed …
A Mouse or a Lion?
Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Luke 10:18 (NLT) I pray from a position of power and authority in Christ. Often, after conducting healing services or ministering to people at conferences, other preachers will approach me. They’ll say, “I think it’s wrong that you are commanding God to do something.” I correct them by saying I’m not commanding God. But I am an ambassador for God addressing the elements of this world. So, when I speak to sick bodies, I command sickness to go because illness has no right to stay. Whenever I command poverty to leave and blessing and favour to flow, it’s because poverty has …
It’s Yours!
This is the reason I urge you to boldly believe for whatever you ask for in prayer—be convinced that you have received it and it will be yours. Mark 11:24 (TPT) It is crucial to believe that what we pray for is a done deal. Now, we can’t force others to do what we want through prayer. But when we pray in faith for ourselves with an understanding of what Jesus accomplished through the cross, it’s a sure thing. I remember one guy telling me that he didn’t need to bother praying because God already knew what he needed. I replied, “Yes, God does know. So, why aren’t you getting everything you need?” He admitted he didn’t know why. I responded, “Because you still need …
How You Pray Affects Your Heart
The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. James 5:16 (AMPC) What and how you pray has a stunning effect on your heart. In fact, incorrect prayers can actually sabotage your faith. Maybe you’re thinking, “Well, God understands my heart.” I get that. However, God created principles for praying, just like He created principles governing our hearts. It is to our detriment to ignore those principles. Let me give you an example. In Luke 22:42, Jesus prays to God, “If it is Your will.” That is a powerful prayer of dedication: a prayer of making sure you line up with the will of God. Notice that Jesus prayed that prayer only once. Here’s the thing—you should …
A Captive Audience of One
Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence. Ephesians 3:12 (NLT) Many people discount the incredible value of prayer. But I find it mind-blowing that we can have an audience with God any time we want. By comparison, can you imagine trying to get an audience with the Queen of England? It probably wouldn’t happen. You could try every possible tactic and still be denied the opportunity to speak to your favourite actor or a famous singer, too. You see, the greater the responsibility and influence that a person carries, the harder it is for them to hang onto any free time. So, few of us hold the privilege of speaking to important people with …
