For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. Colossians 2:9-10 (NLT)
Some of us have been taught right from wrong and can modify our behaviour to match what people expect of us, but we’ve never really formed a personal relationship with God.
As believers, two of the most important things we need to learn is who God really is and who we are in Christ. When we grow in our understanding of these two main points, we grow our relationship with God. Even if we’ve served Him our entire lives because we grew up in church, we start to develop a real internal motivation, passion and excitement of our own.
So…who are you in Christ? Well, there is no one-line answer to that question. It’s something you will keep studying and learning for your entire life. It’s incredible because God’s Word and a relationship with Holy Spirit can keep giving you revelation upon revelation about what you are capable of, what God thinks of you, and what His incredible plans and purposes are for you.
Here are just a few scriptures to get you started. God’s Word says: you are loved (Ephesians 3:18), you have been adopted as God’s child (Ephesians 1:5), you are God’s workmanship (Ephesians 2:10), you are set free (John 8:32), you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37), you are no longer condemned (Romans 8:1-2), and you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
The more you learn about who you are and who Jesus is, the more you will build an incredibly rewarding relationship with your loving Father God.
