Breaking Free of Fear

Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Ephesians 6:13 (AMPC)

When you think about it, we as Christians have such an advantage. When we walk through situations, not only do we have access to the wisdom and skills we’ve grown, but we also have the power, strength and favour of God!

The problem is that fear often immobilizes us.

A lion’s roar can stop its victim in its tracks by paralysing them with fear. The devil tries to do the same thing, but we have to remember that he has no teeth or claws. He might try to pass for a roaring lion, but he is no real threat to the believer.

When you’re in a situation that causes fear to rise up, that fear can choke out all creative thinking. Maybe the answer to a business problem is to design a new system or a new product, but if you allow yourself to focus on fear, you won’t be able to access the creativity you need.

Today’s verse gives us the key. Put on God’s complete armour (by studying the Word every day). Whenever you feel fear rising up, it’s time to get more of God’s Word inside you. And then, when you’ve done all the crisis demands (you’ve also used wisdom to solve the problem), you can handle it with wisdom and peace, knowing that you will overcome whatever comes your way because you’re a child of God and his promises are yours!
