Blood In The Water

Nor discontentedly complain as some of them did—and were put out of the way entirely by the destroyer (death). 1 Corinthians 10:10 (AMP)

God’s Word contains warnings to help keep us safe. For example, 1 Corinthians 10 lists several Old Testament examples we can learn from. Specifically, verse 10 warns us not to complain as the Israelites did on the way to the Promised Land. Although they had experienced incredible miracles, they murmured and complained about silly things such as what they had to eat…and their complaints loosed the terrible consequences.

Complaining is like pouring blood in the water. The sharks circle.

I’ve noticed that people who murmur constantly often have more things to complain about. At first I thought that this justified the complaining but over the years I noticed that their situation seemed to get worse. It makes sense. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]” (AMP). We eat from the fruit of our lips. What we say and believe today is what comes into our lives tomorrow.

I’m not saying that you will be struck down if you complain, but think about it. The complaints of the Israelites in the wilderness caused them to miss their miracle. Because of their lack of faith and murmuring, they died in the wilderness and never experienced the Promised Land.

When you murmur and complain, doubt comes in like a cloud. Just as faith attracts God, doubt and fear attract the enemy. Speak to the mountain, don’t complain about it. You want it to move, not get locked into position. Keep speaking positive, faith-filled words and start experiencing the miracles God wants you to have!
