Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God. Ephesians 2:19 (NKJV)
When Jesus came to the planet, He didn’t come to start a religion. He came to give us the opportunity to become members of His family and citizens of His kingdom.
Legalistic religion is all about rules, judgment and impossible standards, and there’s nothing attractive about that. What people want is to better their lives, which is why we’re always setting out to improve our situation. We want a better world, and that better world is found in God’s kingdom, which is why Jesus taught a lot about what it means to be in His kingdom.
As we make Jesus our Savior and allow Him to rule and reign in our lives from the inside out, we begin to understand what it means to be a citizen of heaven, and we start to see miraculous changes take place. We see changes in our relationships, families, businesses, careers—changes we can’t quite explain. We call these experiences miraculous, but in reality, they’re normal for a citizen of the kingdom of God.
If you’ve given your life to Christ, you already are a citizen of this kingdom—the kingdom of heaven. The beautiful thing about being in God’s kingdom is that the benefits of being a citizen apply no matter where you live or what your circumstances are. You are not held captive by your country’s circumstances or your family’s history, because as a citizen of the kingdom of God, you can enjoy the protection and provision His kingdom provides.
Miraculous blessings, protection and provision are yours as a member of God’s family!
