He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. 1 Peter 2:24 (MSG)
When a promise in God’s Word is taught the wrong way, it can become a curse.
It’s not a curse really, but I say that because it messes up what you believe and therefore prevents you from experiencing the incredible life God has for you.
Let me give you an example. Today’s verse says that Jesus qualified you (as a believer) to walk in health. But Deuteronomy 11 says that God will only bless you IF you obey all His commands.
This teaching is part of the old covenant, but if someone convinces you that it still holds true today, it will completely destroy your ability to receive healing because you’ll never be perfect enough to earn it. Every believer is under the new covenant, so you need to see that Old Testament teaching through the cross.
Under the old agreement before Jesus, we had to earn God’s blessings through good behaviour. But Jesus fulfilled the old covenant. He obeyed every commandment for us, so now we get to enjoy the benefits He earned—including health! This new covenant Jesus made with God is so much better. It’s based on Jesus’ obedience, not ours!
If you try to mix the old and new covenants, you won’t get the results you want. There’s nothing you can do to earn God’s promises. In fact, all of God’s promises are already yours!
As a believer, keep studying and declaring God’s promises of health because as you believe, you will receive!
