Be The Best

God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. James 4:6 (NLT)

God doesn’t want you to think you’re worthless. That doesn’t please Him. God wants you to realize that you can be the best.

Many Christians may have a real problem with this statement because they have been taught that to follow Christ is to be lowly. Our verse today is absolutely true, God opposes the proud, which is why I’m not saying that God wants you to think you are better than everyone else. However, He does want you to be the very best you can be because this is who he created you to be.

When you think about it, believing that you are capable of anything God asks you to do is not pride; it is faith. You’re not confident in yourself; you’re confident in God!

Paul had this confidence. He said, I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency] (Philippians 4:13, AMPC).

You can have this kind of confidence. Because of Jesus, you are ready for anything and equal to anything due to the inner strength that’s been infused into you. You are self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency. 2 Peter 1:3 says that God has given you everything you need for living a godly life, and that you receive all of this by coming to know Him.

It’s not godlier to think you’re nothing. Hebrews 10:35 warns, Do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! (NLT) This confidence is incredibly attractive, and when you walk in it every day, you bring God glory and attract people to Him.
