Now there’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s simply the law of sowing and reaping. When you focus on what you can get out of doing something, it’s not a sacrifice. When you get recognition for something and it betters your reputation, it’s not really a sacrifice either. That’s the direct opposite of what many think. They think that the most important people in church are the ones on stage because they get the most attention. But that’s not true. Those who work in the nursery looking after little kids may never get the praise they deserve. They’re giving up the opportunity to sit in the service for something they value more.
