Are You Prepared For Combat?

Leon FontaineDevoted

Be very careful about what you think. Your thoughts run your life. Proverbs 4:23 (ICB)

Do you struggle with your thought life? If so, there’s help!

God’s Word speaks about weapons He has given us such as His truth, righteousness, peace, love, faith and salvation (Ephesians 6:13-17, MSG). These aren’t earthly weapons, so what are these weapons for? They are for arming and preparing minds.

Now, if God gives us weapons to help us deal with our minds, then our thought lives must be pretty powerful!

So, how do we arm ourselves with God’s mighty arsenal? We prepare for mental combat by meditating on His Word, and continue to renew our minds. Otherwise, it’s like going weaponless into battle! In an attack, a renewed mind in Christ is prepared to knock down strongholds, destroy theories and pull down arguments to make them submit to what God says. It takes consistency to keep our minds renewed in God’s Word in order to arm and defend it, but the reward is life-changing!

Maybe you wrestle with habitual thoughts or feel unable to sustain happiness for any length of time because your thoughts always circle back to negative emotions. Second Timothy 1:7 says God has given us a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. If it’s possible to walk in constant defeat, we can walk in consistent victory. If it’s possible to walk in a constantly critical or fearful way, we are also capable of walking in a positive, optimistic, joyful way, too.

To live out the promises and blessings of God, spend time every day in His Word–His love letter to YOU and keep your mind fully armed. The weapons provided you in His Word are yours to use victoriously!
