Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:12 (NLT)
I’m going to say something that might shock some people: I think Christians don’t fight enough. Now, let me qualify that statement. I’m not talking about picking fights or arguing with people—although conflict can be necessary and healthy when we need to work things out.
I’m talking about the sedate way many believers go through life. I’ve heard many preachers talk about trusting God. But the way they instruct people to trust Him is so passive that people begin to believe they don’t have to take any responsibility for themselves.
Because of that, some people get the idea that Christians must go through life begging and pleading with God, just hoping He hears them. It’s unfortunate because that’s not what life should be like for believers!
Today’s verse says we are to engage in a good fight. Now, that doesn’t mean we’re coming against God. That would be futile, not to mention wrong. It also doesn’t mean we’re battling the devil or his demons because Jesus already defeated the enemy.
So, what are we fighting? We’re combating the misbeliefs and attacks on our minds that make us want to sit down or give up altogether. We must fight to keep a fire lit within ourselves, press onward and stay determined to fulfill the destiny God has planned for us.
If you’re struggling in this area, over the next couple of days, I want to show you powerful ways you can live intentionally and rise up to fight for what matters. It will completely change the way you go through life!
