Through faith in the name of Jesus, this man was healed—and you know how crippled he was before. Faith in Jesus’ name has healed him before your very eyes. Acts 3:16 (NLT)
We as believers have been given the awesome privilege to use the name of Jesus, but we struggle to comprehend it’s amazing power. We often think of it as just a closing to our prayers: “In Jesus’ name, Amen.” It is so much more, and we need to continually work at grasping the full authority the name of Jesus carries.
When the apostles faced trouble, they didn’t pray in a defeated, begging kind of way. Instead, they spoke directly to the trouble and commanded it to go in Jesus’ name. They were fully confident in the authority that name held and convinced of their right to use it!
We need to understand this as well, because behind Jesus’ name is all the power of God. Faith in His name—in the fact that through Him we have the right to every promise of God—acts as a trigger, releasing His power into our lives.
My wife Sally and I have five kids, and with every pregnancy we were sent to specialists for extra tests. Fear threatened to grip us every time, but we chose to speak life to each baby in Jesus’ name. At night I would lay my hand on Sally’s tummy and we would say together, “In the name of Jesus, this child will live and be healthy and strong,” and every child was born completely perfect!
You can speak to whatever you’re facing with confidence in Jesus’ name too, knowing there is nothing more powerful than the name of Jesus!
