What I want to talk about now is the various ways God’s Spirit gets worked into our lives.
1 Corinthians 12:1 (MSG)
I love the way 1 Corinthians 12:1 is worded in The Message Bible. Holy Spirit is already inside every believer and he wants to work his way into every area of our lives…if we will let him.
The thing is, we are responsible for training ourselves to listen to his leading and work with him every day. Over the next few days we’re going to cover a few things we can do to train ourselves to be more Spirit-led.
Today let’s cover the first thing we can do to hear from God more clearly: Meditate on God’s Word.
One powerful way Holy Spirit guides us is through God’s Word. There are times when I’m not sure what to do and a Bible story or verse will come to mind, giving me the clarity I need. Jesus told us this would happen when he said Holy Spirit would “remind you of everything I have said to you” (John 14:26).
What’s important to realize here is that someone can’t remind you about something you’ve never heard. For Holy Spirit to remind you of a truth from God’s Word, you need to have read or heard it before. You can help Holy Spirit guide you by reading and meditating on the Bible more often.
The more you study the Bible, the more led you can be.
Listen to messages, read books and, of course, read the Bible. At the same time, ask Holy Spirit to teach you what you need to know. You will be amazed at how he brings just the right story or verse to mind when you need it most.
