For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation. Psalm 149:4 (NKJV)
Are you taking pleasure from life?
Instead of focusing on the good and taking pleasure in what God is doing in our lives, we often get too wrapped up in the problems we face.
The Bible says that God takes pleasure in you. He enjoys thinking about you. He likes to watch what you’re doing with your life. Even though you’re not perfect, he still takes pleasure in you.
Just as he takes pleasure in you, you can learn how to take pleasure in your everyday life.
All it takes is to make up your mind to look for the positive. When you do, what happens is amazing. Even if you get stuck in the biggest traffic jam of the century, you can have a great train of thought going on inside. Instead of getting angry at what you can’t change, you could choose to use that time to talk to God or to sing worship songs at the top of your lungs.
If you have to endure a boring event that seems like it’s never going to end, choose not to be annoyed and instead look for the humour in the situation. Use your imagination and make a deliberate decision to take pleasure in the moment!
I want to challenge you to take pleasure in life again. Take pleasure in your relationships and your job. Hang on to a sense of big-eyed awe and wonder for life. Take time to smell the roses and to take pleasure in today, because life is a gift.
You can change your focus. Be grateful for what God is doing in your life and choose to revel in everyday moments.
