For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand ) for us [ taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. Ephesians 2:10 (AMPC)
Many people use the words “fate” and “destiny” interchangeably, but the two words actually mean very different things.
“Fate” refers to the idea that your life is predestined to go a certain way and you can’t change it. “Destiny” refers to the belief that certain paths have been preplanned for you, but you can choose whether or not you will walk those plans out.
The Bible does not teach fate. Think about it. If we had no influence over any of the events of our lives, why would God give us instructions on how to prosper and live a great life? If our lives were predetermined, those instructions would be pointless.
The truth is, God has prepared a destiny for you (Ephesians 2:10); paths you can choose to take that lead to the good life.
God is brilliant and amazing. He knows you better than you know yourself. Why not stick with his plans? And if you feel like you’ve strayed away from following his principles or from doing something you feel he’s called you to do, you need to know that you can change direction at any time. It’s never too late to begin to walk out the paths he has for you.
Today, ask God what his plan is for your day, your week and your year.
Keep studying his Word and tune in to his leading; he will direct you to live the good life.
