Your Thoughts Are Measurable

Leon FontaineDevoted

Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
Romans 8:5 (NIV)

We often think of a thought as some sort of immaterial, imaginary thing. But thoughts are real. They cause physical changes in your brain as they are being stored as memories. In fact, thoughts can be measured, and they can affect the health of the rest of your body.

Science is just catching up to the Bible, which lays out the way you work as a triune being (spirit, soul and body). The Bible shows you how success and prosperity work, the way the enemy works, and it talks about how your thoughts can affect your life. This concept is nothing new.

We often assume that our thoughts aren’t important. We assume that we can think about whatever we want without it affecting anything else in our lives, but that’s not what the Bible teaches us. Romans 8:6 says that there’s a type of focus that leads to death, and a type that leads to life.

What is this focus? Romans 8:6 calls it having a “mind governed by the Spirit” (NIV). It’s about staying open to the leading of Holy Spirit in your everyday life and focusing on what he wants to teach you in God’s Word.

What you think about and focus on is so important. It’s time to get your focus off of just you, and off merely the concrete, material world. If you focus on God’s Word and your relationship with him, you’ll be amazed at the breakthroughs, epiphanies, and serendipities that begin to happen in your life.
