Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations.
Ephesians 3:20–21 (NKJV)
If you hear two stories—one positive and one really negative, which one do you think will stick with you longer? The negative one.
As human beings, we tend to be drawn to the negative, but you can get into the habit of being positive. Instead of worrying, you can train yourself to speak God’s Word over every situation. Instead of letting stressful, negative, angry thoughts run rampant in your mind, you can meditate on God’s promises and claim them over your life by speaking them out loud in your quiet time with God.
Want to know a prayer that’s like the icing on the cake for every promise you claim? It’s based on today’s verse. Actually, I love the Amplified Classic Version of it, which says God is able to “do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams].
Isn’t that a fantastic piece of scripture? Try adding something like this to your prayers today: “Father, I know you are able to do much more than anything I ask or can even imagine. I also know that your power is at work within (names of people you’re praying for), and that you’re going to do far over and above all that I have dared to ask, dream, hope or even think about for them! You deserve all the glory everywhere, for everything good, for ever and ever!”
