Claim His Guidance

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Psalm 32:8 (NIV)

Before I ever met my wife Sally, I was praying for her. It’s been so exciting to see our lives unfold together because every prayer I prayed as a single man is still affecting my life today. God’s Word doesn’t come back void. It accomplishes what it is sent forth to do. (See Isaiah 55:11).

Today’s verse says that God will instruct you and teach you in the ways you should go. He wants to lead you to the right person to marry, if you’re single. He will also lead you to parent your kids well and make great business decisions.

Proverbs 3:5–6 adds to this promise. It says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (NIV).

Psalm 16:11 promises you even more. It says, “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand” (NIV). Do you want to be filled with joy and eternal pleasures? Who doesn’t right?

Let’s claim these verses today. Find a quiet place where you can be alone or pray something like this under your breath: “Father, thank you for showing me where to go and what to do. You’re loving eye is on me and you’re always leading and guiding me to the best paths in life. Help me to remember to consult you more often for your guidance. I love you Father!”
