For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
If you tend to struggle with a certain mindset or emotion, you need to ask yourself, “What have I been planting in that area of my life?” If you’re in the middle of a situation that causes you to be anxious
and the fear is eating you up, you need to start planting verses like 2 Timothy 1:7 in your heart. No matter what you’re facing, you have not been given a spirit of fear. That’s not your inheritance! You have a spirit of power, love and a sound mind!
Write it down on a recipe card and put it in your pocket or on your fridge. Make it the screensaver on your computer and the wallpaper on your phone. Take every opportunity to meditate on that verse to get it planted in your heart. As you begin to claim this promise out loud and focus on it, it will start to become part of you, and you’re going to be shocked at how it begins to take root in your life. That belief will begin to clothe your mind with peace. It won’t be something you have to work at; it’ll just come up from inside you. You’ll begin to reap a harvest of peace.
It’s amazing when you think about it, but none of God’s promises come into our lives without us first believing they will.
My assignment to you as we go through this series of devotionals is this: don’t just read them and forget about it. Practice what you’re learning by meditating on God’s Word every day.
