But he who keeps (treasures) His Word [who bears in mind His precepts, who observes His message in its entirety], truly in him has the love of and for God been perfected (completed, reached maturity).
1 John 2:5 (AMPC)
Over the past few days we’ve been discussing how to develop your love walk with God. One way is by learning what God says in the Bible and obeying what it teaches.
It may seem strange, but as you begin to obey God’s Word in the little things and the big things, something starts to change in you. Your love for Him begins to grow.
I love the way the Amplified Bible puts today’s verse. It talks about treasuring God’s Word and about having God’s love perfected, completed and reaching maturity in you. The fact is that spiritual maturity is all about this love walk. It’s not about doctrine or knowing more of the Bible, although that’s important. It’s about a developed love in you that stands the test of time. It’s about choosing to serve God and love people no matter what.
You can develop your love for God. Keep reading His love letter to you, the Bible, and begin to treasure what it says, storing it in your heart (Psalm 119:11). Realize that it’s been written for your bene t, from a loving Dad to His kids. Choose to trust what it says and obey it, and you will start to see results in your life.
The more you try out what the Bible teaches and find out how amazing its wisdom is, the more you will fall in love with the heavenly Father who orchestrated the writing of it.
