Build on your Potential to Love

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
1 John 4:7–8 (NIV)

Becoming a Christian is a fantastic first step. But if you want your life to change, develop your love walk.

It’s like marriage. Some think that if they can just catch their spouse, they’ll be happy for life. All the work goes into getting married and then they imagine it’s going to be smooth sailing from there. But when a couple gets married, they share the potential to build on their love.

They need to keep spending time together, getting to know each other and discovering new things to love about each other. Then they’ll develop a great life together!

The same is true when you give your life to Jesus. You have the potential to love God and others in a huge way, but you have to develop it.

As you develop your love for God and your experience of His love for you, something in you will change. Loving people unconditionally will become easier and, as a result, people will be attracted to you. You see, our world today is love starved, so you have to be careful. People are attracted to the feeling of being loved unconditionally, so you’ll need to make sure that you turn them toward the source of that love, Jesus. In fact, this love walk is the best way to attract others to Christ.

You have the potential to love others unconditionally, the way God loves you. Keep growing in your experience of His love for you and choose to love others like never before.
