[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy.Colossians 1:11 (AMPC)
Do you ever talk down to yourself? It may seem like you’re being humble or transparent, but it’s actually very destructive. You see, everything that comes out of your mouth is steering your life.
If you’re always saying, “I’m just not good at that,” or “I can’t do it,” you’re limiting yourself. You are helping to form negative beliefs about yourself, which will impact your mind, your heart, and your future.
Instead, you need to say things like this, inspired by today’s verse: “Father, thank you for invigorating and strengthening me with all power, not according to my strength or capabilities, but according to the might of your glory. Because of your strength, I am empowered to exercise every kind of endurance and patience, perseverance and forbearance, with joy, no matter what I’m facing today!”
Don’t say things like, “I can’t change. It’s hopeless.” Romans 6:11 says, “So here is how to picture yourself now that you have been initiated into Jesus the Anointed: you are dead to sin’s power and influence, but you are alive to God’s rule” (VOICE). And 2 Corinthians 3:18 says that as you keep growing in God’s Word, you are being constantly being transformed into his image!
Say, “Thank you, Father, that I’m dead to sin. It has no hold on me! Your Word is transforming me to act more like you. Holy Spirit is in me, empowering me to make great choices. I’m going to choose your ways every day!”
