For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
What do you really believe in your heart about yourself? Those beliefs are crucial because they determine the way you live and function. What you really believe in your heart determines what you will do with your life.
Without the right beliefs, all you have is potential, but potential alone is meaningless. Often sports coaches will say things such as, “That kid has great potential.” But potential means nothing if it doesn’t become reality. Did God make anybody who lacks potential? Absolutely not! Everybody has great potential, but that doesn’t mean everyone lives it out.
God gave some people the ability to excel in chemistry, and they could have discovered cures if they had developed those gifts. Others had the potential to be great athletes, but their poor self-worth left them thinking they could never achieve anything.
To live out your potential, you need to believe you can. People think that faith is believing God can do anything. That’s not faith. The devil believes God can do anything. You need to believe God can do it in and through you. You might think, Oh, God can do great things through pastors and missionaries but not through me. But you are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do the good works God prepared you to do!
Over the next few days, we’re going to talk about how you can turn your potential into reality. Believe it’s possible, because what you believe in your heart determines where you go. Then begin to walk out that incredible God-given potential within you!
