I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
Your destiny is not determined by what you desire to do; but in the choices you make.
We’ve been on a series discussing keys to walking in the authority you have in Christ. Here’s a major key. You need to realize that your number one goal is to progressively become more like Jesus in your thoughts, beliefs and actions.
This reminds me of a mistake many new Christians make. When they first hear teaching about how God has a plan for their life, many get into a panic searching for their destiny. They want to know what God has for them to do.
Then, when they hear that God wants to fulfill the desires of their hearts, they assume that they need to figure out what they’re passionate about.
They think that what they desire to do is the key to their destiny.
The problem is they are putting the cart before the horse. The very first thing to think about when it comes to destiny is not what your desires are. Your first priority is to become more like Jesus in your thoughts and actions.
If you’ve given your life to Christ, He lives in you. You have His nature. You’re a new creation. And you have His Word to teach you. And through faith, you can live like Jesus. Believe that you can make choices that Jesus would make. This is key if you want to walk in the promises God has for you and in the authority you have in Christ.
