Present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. Romans 6:13–14 (NKJV)
There are two very important gardens in the Bible. In one, Adam and Eve sold out the human race as they pursued their own selfishness. There in the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve rejected God’s words, disobeyed His commands and did what they felt was good for them. They made the decision to serve themselves.
In another garden, the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus made the decision to turn away from what He wanted and turn toward God’s will. Knowing that the presence of God would leave Him as He became sin and that He would go to hell for the sin of the world, He weighed the cost
and chose to serve God over self.
Adam sold out the human race; Jesus won back the human race. Although that battle is finished, a similar one goes on in us today. Will it be Eden or Gethsemane? Will we go after our own will, or will we present all that we are with open hands and submit to Jesus?
Whether we’re talking about marriage, kids, money or career, there is a struggle going on in you. There is always going to be a choice. Are you going to go the Adam route? Or are you going to go the Jesus route? Are you going to do what is good for the cause of Christ?
Make the Gethsemane step and submit yourself completely to God. You’re empowered to do His will, and it’s the best way. Let Him use you in ways you never dreamed possible.
