This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. Hebrews 4:15 (NLT)
Jesus understands people who are lost without Him more than we ever could.
Religious thinking condemns people with the fact that they are sinners headed for hell. I can’t stand it when people preach at others this way because Jesus didn’t.
Although it’s true that everyone needs to realize that they need Jesus and come to Him, Jesus doesn’t condemn people. Jesus has compassion for people. He understands, picks them up, brushes the dirt off their face and goes to work to build them up.
Churches can be so antagonistic. Yes, we are soldiers of Jesus Christ and the Church is an army, but it is not just an army. It’s a hospital that bandages wounds and helps people get back on track. It’s also a neonatal unit that looks after tiny babies who are just new to Christianity. We can become so military like, always focused on the fight, but who are we fighting? Not people! If we come across like we’re always fighting people, no one will be attracted to what we have to offer.
Cause others to be attracted to the presence of God in your life. Be strong and confident–your words like apples of gold in pitchers of silver (Proverbs 25:11). Let Holy Spirit lead you into all truth and guide you into every adventure.
You can speak and act in a way that causes the heart of Jesus to come through in all you say and do. As a result, people will absolutely fall in love with Jesus in you. This is God’s way, and this is what we call Spirit Contemporary!
