It’s About Christ’s Obedience

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.

Philippians 2:8–10 (NKJV)

Do you ever feel like you don’t measure up?

At one point in my life, I lived with a constant sense that I could never do enough. It didn’t matter what I did; I always felt like it wasn’t enough to please God.

When I felt that I was falling short of what He wanted me to do, I would beat up myself. I thought that I could improve my behaviour by being hard on myself, but I was going about it all wrong.

Yesterday we discussed 2 Corinthians 10:4–5, which says that we need to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Let’s think about this. What is the obedience of Christ? Where was Christ obedient? He was obedient to the point of death. Through the finished work of the cross, He took our punishment. Romans 8:1 teaches us that there is no condemnation

for those who are in Him (those who have accepted Christ).

In Him, you aren’t inadequate or unworthy. You are more than a conqueror. You’re treasured and loved. You’re capable and empowered by the very same power that raised Christ from the dead. You have His mind and the same opportunity to have a close relationship with God.

There’s no condemnation for you. Don’t fall for the lie that God is distant from you because your life isn’t perfect. He is your Father God, and in Him you can find power, strength, peace and joy.
