Satan’s greatest deception is to make you think that he still has power.
By taking our sin nature and the curse that went with it, Jesus defeated the enemy. He stripped the devil of power by taking away the only thing he had on us: our sin nature. This is also why Jesus said that the devil had nothing on him (John 14:30). Jesus was God’s Son and had the nature of His Father.
When you gave yourself to Jesus Christ, you gained His nature. As He is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17). Therefore, Satan has no power over you. The entire demonic force could appear in front of you to try to destroy you, and there is nothing they could do because you belong to God. You just need to believe it.
There is incredible power in this realization, and the devil doesn’t want you to know it! He doesn’t want you to realize that you have the nature of God and you’re empowered to walk free from sin. He wants you to think that sin still has control over you and that if you don’t live right, God will punish you, but this is not true!
Jesus had peace because He knew who He was and that the devil had nothing in Him. The same is true for you. Because you accepted Christ, the devil has no legal right to you, you are now part of God’s family and you have access to His power and provision. You don’t need to be afraid of the devil.
