For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. 1 Corinthians 4:20 (NLT)
God’s Word is so powerful.
According to Hebrews 4:12, God’s Word is “living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (NKJV). But its power isn’t accessed through analyzing and reasoning. The truth of God’s Word bypasses your reasoning mind to alter you from the inside out.
In fact, Holy Spirit works through God’s Word to change you.
The combination of God’s Word and Holy Spirit’s guidance can teach you everything you need to know about marriage, home, family, love, kids, your desires and the most intimate parts of your thought life. Together they teach you pure truth, not perceptions that come from your experience or from what others have told you. And as this pure truth hits your heart, your life changes.
Of course, this process has to be one you invite in. Without your consent, God can’t change your heart because He’s given you control over your own will. Only you can decide to spend time in His Word, and only you can make the decision to believe what it says.
If you want real change—change at the heart level—stay hungry for God’s Word and ask Holy Spirit to teach you as you study it. As you keep learning the truths that He teaches you, He’s going to raise you up to take on more of the characteristics of who you truly are—who He made you to be—and you are in for an awesome ride!
