The wicked flee when no one pursues them, but the righteous are as bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1 (AMP)
Are you running from something?
Some believers are running from the devil. They continually blame him for everything that goes wrong in their lives, when he really doesn’t have power. He’s a defeated enemy, yet they see him as the “big, bad wolf.”
Others are running from God, thinking He’s going to punish them. They avoid going to church or reading the Word because they believe God is out to get them when they mess up. They haven’t realized that Jesus put them in right-standing with God as a gift.
Proverbs 28:1 says the righteous are as bold as a lion. As a believer, you’re counted among the righteous! When God looks at you, it’s not through the lens of your performance—good or bad. It’s through the lens of Jesus, who perfectly fulfilled the law on your behalf. God looks at you and smiles because He’s so pleased with you.
And since you’re in right-standing with God, you have the ability to be bold. The world’s version of boldness is often “fake it till you make it.” They’ll tell you to feign confidence or bluff your way through situations. But as a believer, you’re not bluffing. You have a real reason to be bold. Why? Because as a righteous child of God, the devil can’t touch you—and God’s not holding anything back from you. Victory is yours!
If you rely on only your five senses to read a situation, you’ll find reasons to be afraid. But that’s a defeated way to live. Instead, choose to focus on who you are in Christ. Stop running and stand tall, because you’re a righteous child of the King!
