Can You Handle It?

And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. 2 Peter 1:4 (NLT)

Can you handle what God has called you to do? Can you live the life God has for you—one that’s even better than you could imagine? Not on your own!

The only way you can handle the life God has for you is if you meditate on His Word and spend time with Holy Spirit every day. You can’t have the relationships you’ve always dreamed of while building a great career if you’re relying only on your own strength. Only through God can you have your cake and eat it, too.

You may need to shift your schedule around to develop a habit of spending time with Holy Spirit, but it’s worth it. Something inside of you changes if you continually renew yourself with God’s presence and His Word. You gain power for healing, peace, joy, and patience as you begin to rely on the ability Holy Spirit provides you.

It’s not a religious thing. You’re not trying to earn God’s love or impress anyone. You simply need the strength you gain from His Word and His presence to do what you must do every day—especially if you want to keep experiencing His contagious joy and peace.

If you’re going to make one New Year’s resolution this year, make it this one: every day, read one of God’s promises and ask Holy Spirit to show you what that promise means for you.

Here are a couple to get you started:

Power and strength: Isaiah 40:29–31

Peace and protection: Proverbs 1:33 and John 14:27
