So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (NLT)
The position we hold with Jesus is loved, accepted and forgiven.
The cool thing is that once we invite Him into our hearts and begin to embrace Jesus’ culture, we discover love in a totally new way.
Jesus’ love is unconditional, which is different from what many of us experience earthly in relationships. Jesus’ love says, “You’re so deeply loved that no matter what you do, God will not turn away from you.”
In fact, the only One God turned His head away from was Jesus. When Jesus sacrificially became sin on the cross for us, He cried out, asking why God had forsaken him (Matthew 27:46). You see, Jesus suffered that rejection so that we as believers would never have to.
Now, being loved, accepted and forgiven doesn’t mean we are without boundaries or bear no earthly consequences for our decisions. And it doesn’t mean God expects perfection or wants us to live tightly restricted, limited lives for fear of ever making mistakes.
When He walked the earth, Jesus loved, accepted and forgave people the way they were, and it completely changed their lives. (See Luke 19; John 4; John 8.) Understanding our position in Christ empowers our hearts to change, and the evidence is a growing ability to extend to others the same love, acceptance and forgiveness we’ve freely received.
Maybe you think your past is beyond forgiveness, or that something you’ve done is too much for Jesus to accept. Don’t believe it. Regardless of where you come from, what you’ve gone through or done, know this—the rock-solid position you hold in Jesus is that you are loved, accepted and forgiven.
