The Prayer Of Faith

Leon FontaineDevoted

Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them and you will have them. Mark 11:24 (NKJV)

Yesterday we introduced a new series to discuss the eight different types of prayer available to us. The first type of prayer I would like to cover is called the prayer of faith.

Before we go any further, I want you to realize that all eight types of prayer can flow in and out of each other in one conversation with God. I don’t want you to worry about which type of prayer you are using, because it doesn’t really matter if you can name them. What matters is that you are aware of what is available to you.

Our verse today sums up the prayer of faith, and I want you to notice which word is used the most. It’s the word “you” and this says a lot about the prayer of faith. This is a type of prayer you pray when you’re asking God for something for yourself. It’s a “you” kind of prayer and it’s powerful.

Here’s the important thing to remember about this prayer because many have lost faith by missing this principle. You cannot get the prayer of faith to work for someone else, other than children who are under the age of accountability. Think about it: even Jesus couldn’t heal some people because of their lack of faith.

There is another type of prayer you can use to pray for others, and I’ll get to that later. When it comes to the prayer of faith, however, the person who needs something from God is the one who has to believe.

The prayer of faith is a guarantee from the Father that if you believe, you receive. So…what do you need to claim for your life today?
