Though our outer man is [progressively] decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being [progressively] renewed day after day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 (AMP)
As believers, you and I have two energy tanks to draw from. We have our own personal energy tank, which relies on good mental and physical health, a positive environment, happy happenings, adequate sleep, and healthy nutrition. We also have a spiritual energy tank, which we fill by spending time in God’s Word and in His presence.
Although it will always be important to take care of our physical and mental health, we were never designed to survive on this strength alone. In fact, this outer physical part of us is progressively wasting away, although we all hate that reality of life. Taking care of our health can keep us feeling great for a long time, but the harsh reality is that our outer selves aren’t getting any younger.
On the other hand, our inner selves can be renewed every day. We can draw from a spiritual fuel tank, which is filled when we spend time in God’s Word and in His presence.
Despite the fact that our lives are so much better when our spiritual tanks are filled, so few people actually do what it takes to make sure they stay full. As a result, many run on empty and wonder why life is so hard. Meanwhile, they could be filling their fuel tanks to overflowing every day.
You don’t have to be one of these spiritually anorexic people. It’s so simple: just renew your inner self daily by taking the time to meditate on God’s Word and connect with Him. The reality is that no one can make sure you stay filled with this strength but you. Fill your spiritual tank every day!
