But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes]. 1 Corinthians 2:16 (AMP)
Do you ever struggle to understand why you feel the way you feel?
Sometimes our feelings seem to come out of left field. Something happens or someone says something and suddenly we’re in a whirlwind of emotion that seems out of proportion to our circumstances. We say and do things out of anger or hurt that we later regret, and we wonder what’s wrong with us.
Our feelings can be a lot like sparrows in flight. If you’ve ever watched these little birds flitting from tree to tree, you probably noticed how erratic their path seemed. That’s how many people’s feelings are—up one minute and down the next.
The trouble is we often look for someone or something to blame when our feelings are off. Instead, you need to look within to get to the bottom of how you feel, and know that you are not stuck. There’s a process you can follow to change how you feel!
For one, your physical health impacts the emotions you experience. You need to make sure that you’re taking care of yourself physically so that you’ll have the right levels of brain and body chemicals available. But first, you need to realize that it’s possible.
As a child of God, you can also break free from anxiety and fear because you have the spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7, NKJV). You have the mind of Christ, and he wasn’t constantly down, insecure, angry or double-minded. Through Him, you can begin to access joy inexpressible and full of glory (1 Peter 1:8, NKJV).
