which we use to destroy strongholds. We destroy false arguments; we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God; we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:4–5 (GNT)
Real transformation requires more than just learning Scripture, although that is still vital! It involves an inner heart change. But how do you work out that process?
Luke 6:49 (NLT) says anyone “who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house right on the ground, without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.” Hearing God’s Word and doing it is what will change you.
As you meditate on the Word and put it into practice, the Word goes to work to destroy your false beliefs. It feeds your spirit and keeps your mind focused on the things of God. It’s your weapon for taking every wayward thought captive and making it line up with the truth.
Some people slog through life, waiting for the occasional moment of peace or joy. But when you live by the Word you are transformed and you live a lifestyle of peace, joy and supernatural strength all the time! The things that used to trip you up will lose their hold on you.
I encourage you to get into the Word every day and focus on God’s thoughts. Practice them and live them out until they become your thoughts. Remember, you’ll never be finished renewing your mind—it’s an ongoing process. But as you allow the Word to work in you, it will transform you “from glory to glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18)!
