…Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 (NLT)
Believing a lie can cause incredible damage. Once you fall for one, you’ll begin to make incorrect decisions and head in the wrong direction.
Satan is well aware of this, of course. We know because it’s the same tactic he used on Eve in the Garden of Eden. And he continues to use this approach against us today.
For example, if he wants to bring strife or division to your marriage, he won’t necessarily attack it outright. He might just keep throwing the same lie repeatedly at your mind for months to see if it eventually sticks. He wants to get you thinking, “You know what? I don’t think I love my spouse the way I used to.”
Isn’t that technique subtle? It’s the oldest trick in Satan’s book. He knows that if you chew on a deceitful thought long enough, it can develop into a misbelief. When that happens, you’ll begin acting on that belief by saying and doing destructive things within that relationship. Unfortunately, wrong thinking causes wrongdoing.
That’s why I believe the single most important thing you need to do after giving your life to Christ is to spend time renewing your mind in His Word. Consistently arming your mind with the truth, God’s Word, keeps you centred on His amazing paths for your life. It also keeps you alert to the enemy’s snares along the way.
Then, as you walk out your destiny, you won’t fall for Satan’s lies. Instead, you’ll have the wisdom needed to recognize all of his old tricks and navigate them victoriously.
