CORRECTING YOUR VISION

Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil. Psalm 119:133 (NLT)

As you walk out your destiny, what you see and how you react to it is vital. Now, I’m not talking about your eyes. I’m saying that your thoughts and your beliefs affect how you perceive situations.

That’s why it’s crucial to keep your mind consistently renewed with the Word of God. Otherwise, an incorrect view will cause you to misinterpret conversations and circumstances, make wrong decisions and run off course.

It reminds me of a story I heard about two competing shoe salesmen. Their respective companies sent them to a country where they’d heard there was a phenomenal, untapped market for shoes.

The first salesman got off the plane and walked through several villages. To his horror, he realized nobody wore shoes. He quickly contacted his office and said, “Get me on the next flight out. Nobody wears shoes in this country!”

The other salesman got off the plane and walked through the same villages. Seeing nothing but bare feet, he called his office excitedly. “Send me a jumbo jet full of shoes immediately! Nobody has any here. The opportunities are endless!”

How can two people encounter the same situation and interpret it totally differently? It starts with our inward vision: how we think and what we believe. And when we don’t renew our minds with God’s Word, we will misread situations or people and it will derail us from our God-given purpose.

But with a mind that’s rooted in what God says, you’ll be able to see things the way God sees them. The right thoughts and beliefs will help you stay firmly within your destiny and successfully walk out all God has planned for your life.
