Over the past few days, we’ve been talking about the fight that takes place in Christianity. It’s not about fighting among each other. And it’s not about fighting demons. Our fight is to stay in faith, to keep our focus, to stay the course.
To win the fight to stay in faith, you need to keep claiming God’s promises over your life.
One great scripture I love to pray over my family and friends is Colossians 1:9–10. I’d take this verse and fill in the names of those I’m praying for in the blanks. I’d pray this verse over my wife, Sally, like this:
“Father, thank you for filling Sally with a full, deep and clear knowledge of your will. Give her wisdom and insight into your ways and purposes. Help her to understand spiritual things, so that she might:
- Conduct herself in a manner worthy of you, fully pleasing to you and desiring to please you in all things.
- Bear fruit in every good work.
- Steadily grow and increase in, and by the knowledge of you.
- Get to know you on a deeper level.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
