“…if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9 (NKJV)
Over the years as a pastor, I’ve noticed a widespread discontent in North American churches. Many believers have settled for “life support Christianity” instead of developing a thriving faith. They may have fire insurance for eternity, but they struggle to see much of a difference in their life here on Earth.
What’s missing? Today’s verse points to something crucial: the empty tomb. You see, when it comes to the story of Easter, many of us focus on the cross where Jesus died. We forget that His resurrection is equally important.
Romans 10:9 says we must believe in our hearts that Jesus was “raised from the dead.” Why is that? It’s because at the resurrection, something called the Great Exchange was completed. The empty tomb shows us that death is defeated, and it signifies the new covenant you and I can now enjoy as believers.
Over the next few days, I want to show you eight of the exchanges that took place at the cross and resurrection. When you understand what Jesus accomplished for you, the truth will set you free. The Word will begin to awaken your faith and change your deepest beliefs. You’ll realize that in any area where you’re struggling, breakthrough doesn’t come from exerting more of your own effort. It comes from believing what Jesus has already done.
Today, rest in the fact that Jesus took your place on the cross and defeated sin and death. Because of the empty tomb, you can experience victory in your health, emotions, relationships and every area of life!
