“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” John 10:10 (AMP)
I once heard a story about a newly immigrated couple. They had just purchased and moved into their new home when a group of thieves broke in, took over the house and forced the couple to leave. After a couple months of living on the street, the couple complained, “How could Canada do this to us?”
It’s just a story, but if it were true, we would all agree that Canada didn’t steal from this couple. They could enlist the help of Canadian police to fight for their rights and privileges as citizens. Although Canada forbids theft, that doesn’t mean theft never happens.
In the same way, when bad things happen to good people, many ask, “How could God let this happen?”
It’s important to realize God doesn’t bring pain, sickness and death into our world, just as Canada can’t be blamed for theft. We live in an imperfect world. But God’s will is for you to “have and enjoy life” (John 10:10, AMP). As a member of His family, you have been given the authority to fight for what is rightfully yours.
If you aren’t aware of your rights as a citizen, people will take advantage of you. Similarly, as a citizen of God’s Kingdom, you need to know your rights or the enemy will take what belongs to you.
Discover your rights as you meditate on God’s Word, and His power will rise up inside of you. Then, when the enemy tries to take what’s yours, you will be able to confidently stand against his attacks.
