And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32 (NKJV)
Are you stuck trying to change something in your life and feel like you’re hitting your head against a brick wall? No matter how hard you try to change a habit, break an addiction or set a new pattern in your relationships, nothing seems to work.
God’s Word says it’s the truth that sets us free. That means what keeps us bound isn’t our behaviour or performance—it’s simply a lack of truth. In the areas we’re living in ignorance or believing a lie, we will continue to be trapped.
When the Word talks about “knowing”, it’s more than knowing something intellectually. It’s talking about an experiential knowledge. For example, you can understand love with your head, but it’s another thing to actually experience being in love with someone.
We need to experience the truth. As you meditate on the Word and declare it over your life, it sinks into your heart and begins to change your deepest beliefs and perceptions. Your behaviour then has no choice but to follow your new beliefs.
First John 5:13 (NKJV) says, “These things I have written to you…that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”
It doesn’t say you have eternal life and now you must perform a certain way for this life to continue in you. No, you must continue to believe.
Today, meditate on this: Jesus died for all your sins and came to live His life through you. His power is in you to overcome every lie, habit, addiction or destructive pattern. It’s time to know and experience this truth that sets you free!
