Put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind…put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22–24 (NKJV)
In the past few days we’ve looked at how to fulfill your God-given potential. Today, I’d like to sum it all up: Get connected to God for an incredible life.
The key to walking out your potential lies with staying connected to God.
Now first let me clear something up. The key to change isn’t to analyze your past until you have everything figured out.
Let’s think this through. Second Corinthians 5:17 teaches that you are a new creation. You weren’t just forgiven; you were made new! If you’re struggling with things from your past, talking to a counsellor can be very helpful. But remember, you don’t have to sort out everything from your past to live this new life you have in Christ.
You don’t have to figure out why you did all the things you did before you gave your life to Christ. Studying those old habits and choices tells you nothing about who you really are. You discover who you are from the instruction manual: The Bible.
Let’s not get caught up in the world’s idea of how to walk out our potential. Forget the old and put on the new. Get connected to God, keep growing in your knowledge of who you are in Christ through His Word, and keep applying what you learn. You’ll achieve your potential!
