If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 (NKJV)
We all want to grow and mature in God. But do you ever wonder how?
There are plenty of measures of spiritual maturity out there, but I’d like to simplify it with one statement: Grow in your love walk. If there’s one thing I’d like to see in my life and in yours, it’s to develop and grow in love.
As believers, this love walk is a choice. It doesn’t happen automatically just because you’ve given your life to Christ. Love for God is rarely like love at first sight. It’s a love you develop.
You might have made the decision to follow Christ not out of love but because it made sense to you. If so, you may compare yourself to other Christians and think, “Wow, everyone else seems to talk about God with such love and praise Him with tears in their eyes. I just don’t feel anything. Maybe I’m not really saved?”
The truth is you don’t have to love God to be born again. Romans 10:8–10 teaches us that if someone believes Jesus died for them and confesses Him as their Lord, a miracle takes place and they are born again. It doesn’t say that love is a prerequisite. However, why stop there? You can grow in your love relationship with God to levels beyond what you can imagine.
Over the next few days we’re going to be discussing this love walk. Stay tuned because there are ways you can grow in your love for God and for others. As you apply these principles, I know they will change your life!
